Cookies and Other Technologies
We utilize browser cookies (small text files stored on your device) to manage our Platform, collect and analyze statistical data, ensure security, combat spam, and for advertising purposes. Cookies help us improve your experience when browsing our Platform and enhance its features. Additional information on our use of cookies can be found in our Cookies Policy.

Data We Receive from Third Parties
When you sign in to your account using credentials from an internet service (such as Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Google, Yahoo!, LinkedIn, or Apple), that service sends us your username and the email address linked to the credentials you used. How personal information is used
We utilize personal data in various ways necessary to provide the services you wish to use, pursue certain legitimate interests, and comply with applicable laws, as further detailed below. We do not typically rely on your consent for processing your personal data if another lawful basis is available. Should we rely on your consent, we will inform you at that time.

Registered users have a profile that contains information detailing their viewing preferences. User settings (such as chart settings, toolbars, and buttons) are maintained solely to personalize your experience while using the Platform, applications, or user accounts. We do not disclose private profile settings to any third parties.
When you create an account, please be aware that other users or visitors may view your public profile and any information you have made publicly accessible.

Please note that upon your request for deletion, we will remove any personal data you have provided. However, some data-such as published ideas/scripts and messages sent to other users-will be retained, as they are integrated into our system. This retention is necessary to maintain platform integrity.
To fulfill legitimate business processes and legal obligations, including tax laws, audits, and security requirements, we must retain certain data for extended periods. This may include, but is not limited to, transaction logs, financial records, addresses, and employment details. Retention duration for each data type will comply with specific legal requirements, lasting up to 10 years.
Please be aware that search engines and third parties may retain copies of your publicly available information even after account deletion. Additionally, published ideas will remain on the Platform, and messages sent to other users cannot be removed.

This may involve storing and disclosing your information to law enforcement or government agencies when necessary to comply with the law, including court orders or subpoenas. In this privacy policy, "legitimate interests" refer to the goals of predictions.io and our affiliates in managing our business. When processing your personal data for legitimate interests, we ensure your rights under data protection laws are considered and balanced. Our legitimate interests do not automatically override your interests. We do not leverage personal data where our interests overshadow potential impacts on users unless we have explicit consent or the law requires or allows such actions. You may object to processing based on our legitimate interests anytime if it concerns your specific situation.

When you create your profile on our Platform, it is accessible to other users or visitors. They can view any information you have made public about yourself. This includes your market information (such as published ideas and scripts, market allocations, and top mentioned symbols), social information, contact information, and community status (including Moderator or Pro badges, and stats like reputation points, views, likes, followers, registration date, and last visit date). However, your email address will remain hidden unless you choose to display it.
Public Content
Our Service allows registered users to share charts with indicators and comments, ideas, scripts, and other content publicly via our publishing features. By using these public publishing features, you grant us an irrevocable, perpetual, and royalty-free license to publish and disclose your content and your username, making you identifiable. You also have the option to publish content as "private," which will not appear in your profile or idea/scripts lists, nor be indexed by search engines. However, users with a direct link to the content will be able to view it, and you control who can access the link. When you comment on any content, we publish certain information about your comment, including the date, time, and application used (e.g., "predictions.io for iOS").
Chats and Private Messages
When you communicate with other users via public and private chats, we store and process your messages and related information. We check links to ensure they do not contain malicious software or content and to detect spam and prohibited images/text. When using private messages, remember the recipients retain a copy of your correspondence even if you delete it from your account. Recipients have the ability to copy, store, or reshare these messages, so it's important to remain mindful of this.
Security of personal data
We implement technical and organizational measures to safeguard your personal data and require our third-party partners to uphold the same standards.
To protect certain information you submit to us, we utilize Transport Layer Security (TLS) encryption technology. This technology prevents interception of your information during transmission to predictions.io or the payment processor. When on a secure page, such as our order form, a "lock" icon appears in the browser window, indicating that a secure and encrypted connection has been established with the Platform. We are committed to maintaining a secure Service that adheres to industry standards. Additionally, we employ other protective measures such as firewalls, authentication systems (including passwords and personal identification numbers), and access control mechanisms to prevent unauthorized access to our systems and data. If you create an account, you are responsible for keeping your access details confidential and must not share them with anyone else.
We also strive to protect user information offline. All personal information is kept secure within our offices, and access is restricted to employees who need the information to perform their job responsibilities.
Personal data is stored on servers located in a secure facility.
We continually enhance our methods for securing, storing, and processing the data we collect, which includes implementing physical security measures to protect against unauthorized access. However, please be aware that no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Data Breach Notification
Data security incidents, while rare, represent a critical moment where transparent communication and swift action are essential to maintaining user trust and meeting regulatory obligations. Our organization is committed to handling any potential data breaches with the utmost seriousness, ensuring that affected individuals, regulatory authorities, and relevant stakeholders are notified promptly and provided with clear, actionable information.
Upon confirming a data breach, our team conducts a comprehensive risk assessment considering multiple factors:
Data Sensitivity
The types of personal information involved, including whether the breach affects sensitive data such as financial information, health records, social security numbers, or authentication credentials. Higher-risk data types may require expedited notification timelines and additional protective measures for affected individuals.
Scope and Scale
The number of individuals potentially affected and the geographic distribution of the impact. Large-scale breaches or those affecting vulnerable populations receive heightened priority in our notification process.
Potential Harm
The likelihood and severity of potential harm to affected individuals, including identity theft, financial fraud, discrimination, or physical safety risks. This assessment directly influences the content and urgency of our notifications.
Containment Status
Whether the breach has been contained and the risk of further exposure eliminated. Ongoing security risks may require immediate notification even if the full scope of the incident is not yet known.
Our organization complies with data breach notification requirements across multiple jurisdictions, with timelines and procedures varying based on applicable regulations:
GDPR Compliance (EU/EEA)
Under Article 33 of the General Data Protection Regulation, we notify the relevant supervisory authority within 72 hours of becoming aware of a breach that is likely to result in a risk to the rights and freedoms of natural persons. Our notification includes:
- A description of the nature of the breach, including data categories and approximate numbers of affected individuals
- Contact details for our Data Protection Officer
- A description of likely consequences and measures taken to address the breach
- Where applicable, measures recommended to mitigate possible adverse effects
State-Level Requirements (US)
We maintain compliance with varying state notification laws, including expedited requirements in states like Massachusetts (immediate notification for certain breach types) and California (specific timelines based on data types affected).
In cases involving criminal activity or national security implications, we coordinate with appropriate law enforcement agencies while balancing our notification obligations to affected individuals. This coordination may influence the timing or content of public notifications to avoid compromising ongoing investigations.
Children and sensitive personal data
We maintain an unwavering commitment to protecting the privacy and safety of children online. We recognize that minors require heightened privacy protections and that parents and guardians have fundamental rights to oversee their children's digital activities. To this end, we have implemented robust age verification mechanisms and comprehensive parental consent procedures that exceed minimum regulatory requirements.
We do not knowingly collect, process, or retain personal information from children under the age of 13 without verifiable parental consent, in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar international regulations, nor do we collect sensitive personal data in the means of Article 9 of the GDPR (which includes information such as racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade union membership, genetic data processing, biometric data for uniquely identifying an individual, health-related data, or information about a person's sex life or sexual orientation, etc.). For users between the ages of 13 and 16, we implement additional safeguards in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable age-appropriate design frameworks.
If you believe we have unintentionally collected such information, please contact us immediately so we can obtain the necessary consent or delete the data.
Third-party sites
We may, at our discretion, include links to other platforms from our Platform. These external platforms may be operated by third parties that have their own independent privacy policies. Therefore, we assume no responsibility or liability for the content, activities, or privacy practices of these linked sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of each site you visit.
EEA and UK users' specific rights
Individuals in the European Economic Area (EEA) and the United Kingdom (UK) may have rights concerning their personal data that we hold (as detailed below). These rights may be subject to certain limitations and restrictions. If you are located in the EEA or UK, please reach out to us to exercise your rights.
Accessing Data
If requested, we will confirm whether we are processing your personal data and provide you with a copy of that data along with any relevant details. If you request additional copies, we may charge a reasonable fee, which can be discussed based on the circumstances.
Restricting the Processing of Personal Data
You may request that we restrict or "block" the processing of your personal data under certain conditions, such as when you dispute the accuracy of the data or object to our processing of it. We will notify you before lifting any restrictions on processing. If your personal data has been shared with others, we will inform them of the restriction whenever possible. If applicable and lawful, we will also let you know who we have shared your personal data with so that you can reach out to them directly.
Objections
You have the right to:
- Request that we cease processing your personal data at any time, and we will comply. If we are relying on legitimate interests for processing, we can continue only if we demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for doing so.
- Object to the processing of your data for direct marketing purposes at any time. You can do this by clicking the "unsubscribe" button in our marketing emails.
- Opt out of receiving service notifications via email (such as updates when a user you follow publishes new content) by adjusting your Settings.
Withdrawal of Consent
If we rely on your consent to process your personal data, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time. This will not affect the legality of the processing carried out before we receive your withdrawal notice. Generally, we do not rely on your consent if other lawful grounds are available. If we do, we will clarify this when seeking your consent.
Viewing and Correcting Data
You have the right to request correction of inaccurate personal data or to complete incomplete data. You can view, manage, and update your personal data in your Settings. If we have shared your personal data with others, we will notify them of any corrections made whenever feasible. If applicable and lawful, we will also inform you about the parties with whom we have shared your personal data for direct contact.
Deleting Data
You may choose not to use our Services and can request the deletion or removal of your personal data in certain situations. We will inform any third parties with whom we have shared your data of the updates whenever possible. If relevant and lawful, we will also notify you of those parties for direct contact.
Data Retention
We will retain your personal data (1) and account information until you decide to delete your account (upon your request) + 30 days, or (2) marketing data: until you unsubscribe + 30 days or as required by law or for legitimate business purposes (such as tax, legal, accounting, fraud prevention, or other compliance needs). This data may persist even after account deletion.
Once the applicable retention period expires, we will securely destroy your personal data according to applicable laws and regulations. In some situations, we may anonymize your personal data so that it can no longer be linked to you, at which point the data is no longer considered personal.
If you consent to receive marketing communications, we will retain your data until you unsubscribe, which can be done via the "unsubscribe" button at the end of our marketing emails. Additional methods for unsubscribing may be introduced in the future.
Data Portability
You have the right to obtain your personal data that you consented to provide us or that was necessary for our contract with you. We will supply this data in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format, which you may reuse elsewhere if you choose.
Lodge a Complaint with a Data Protection Authority
If you have concerns about our privacy practices, including how we handle your personal data, you may report it to a competent data protection authority in any EU member state authorized to address such concerns (contact information can be found on the Platform). If you wish to exercise any of these rights, please contact us. Please note that we may need to request additional information to verify your identity before responding to your request.
International data transfers
Predictions.io is based in the EU. The information collected through our Services will be stored on servers situated in the United States, the European Union, and other locations (including outside the EEA), and may be shared with our service providers and affiliated businesses for the purposes described above. This is essential for facilitating your navigation and use of our Services. Your data may be transferred to our service providers and affiliates that assist in our business operations as described.
Please note that the countries involved may not offer the same legal standards for the protection of your personal data as those in the EEA. If we transfer your personal data to countries outside of your own, we will take necessary steps to ensure that your information is adequately protected and that your rights continue to be safeguarded.
If you would like more information on the protective measures we implement, please contact us.
